Synology DS109 is a NAS, based on Freescale processor, which in effect provides for it very good performance, high energy efficiency and an array of additional functionality. Unfortunately all that comes with rather steep price attached to it, considering you have a single slot, the additional 1TB of hard disk space will set you back with $229 + at least 100$ for the hard drive. Still, should you choose to part with that sum, you will get a very good device, that will take good care of your data, discreetly and out of sight.

Many thanks to our friends from Synology , for making this review possible.
