Pros:
  • The fastest card in its class
  • The best overall price/performance ratio
  • Extraordinary energy efficiency and low power consumption due to its 40nm core
  • Vast overclock potential
  • Compact design
  • Effective and acceptable noisy cooler
  • DirectX 10.1 support

Cons:
  • No CUDA and PhysX

This AMD product has perfect price/performance ratio. In times such as these, when it is questionable whether hundreds of dollars should be spend on computer components, we can open-heartedly recommend the card for its low price and performance sufficient enough for any modern game and at relatively high resolutions too. AMD HD 4770 512MB beats (even though by little) GeForce 9800 GT in overall performance, has DirectX 10.1 support and lower price. While it lacks CUDA (which we find useful at compressing and processing video files mostly), if a card with a main focus on gaming and common computer operations is needed, AMD Radeon HD 4770 is our definite choice. If we consider not GeForce 9800 GT, then HD 4770 is much better buy than HD 4830 (which has the same price) or even HD 4850, which is much more expensive, while not being competitive enough by supplying just a few more frames than HD 4770.

Enthusiasts must not forget that the card has has also a great overclock potential and squeezing an additional 10-15% of performance is a breeze. And because of tall this - here is the Editors Choice award along with 9.5/10 points!

Many thanks to our friends from AMD and Solytron for supplying us with the cards and making this review possible.
