As we already stated Extreme Edition memory family is to great extent intended to be used by hardware enthusiasts in high -end gaming machines, thus checking A-Data Vitesta EE DDR3 1600MHz capabilities was a must. So we attempted to determine the memory maximum frequency, which proved to be easy. From the default 1600MHz CL7-7-7-20 it went as high as 1800MHz at somewhat loose timings CL8-9-8-24. Our first overclock attempt at 1900 was completely unsuccessful, and even with the lighter 9-9-9-24 and later 10-10-10-30 timings and 2.1V with which the memory booted, it was unstable. At around 1800MHz it fully stabilized at 1.9V and CL8, while as whole higher voltage has insignificant effect on end its results.
And to make comparison more interesting we threw in the following combos in testing:
- A-Data Vitesta EE DDR3 1800MHz 8-9-8-24 (The Intel E8500 CPU is overclocked to 3600MHz (8x450))
- A-Data Vitesta EE DDR3 1600MHz 7-7-7-20 (The Intel E8500 CPU is overclocked to 3600MHz (9x400))
- Plain DDR3 1333MHz 2x1GB 8-8-8-20 (The Intel E8500 CPU is overclocked to 3600MHz (9x400))
- Plain DDR2 800MHz 2x1GB 5-5-5-12 (The Intel E8500 CPU is overclocked to 3600MHz (9x400))
3DMark Vantage
There is hardly anything that's not been said about the famous DirectX 10 of Futuremark, so lets go strait to the results ans analysis:
Results of +/- 1% are seen from one test to another. That difference of few points being as small as it is just goes to show that with gaming test such as this memory does not affect performance.
